After a long wait for Cardinals fans, the team has signed pitcher Adam Wainwright to a one-year deal worth $8 million according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Although it was a shortened and strange year for the Cardinals, the 39-year-old had a good season, starting 10 games where he went 5-3 and had an ERA of 3.15. With only a small sample size, it is his best ERA since the 2015 season when he pitched in seven games.
With Wainwright signed, that narrows down one of the few Cardinals free agents yet to ink a deal. Catcher Yadier Molina and second baseman Kolten Wong still remain unsigned with time running out in the offseason.
