In a busy weekend of changes throughout college football, multiple sources reported that Eliah (Eli) Drinkwitz will be the next head football coach at Missouri.
The agreement came not long after Drinkwitz’s Appalachian State team defeated Louisiana 45-38 Saturday in the Sun Belt Conference championship game. Drinkwitz leaves Appalachian State after just one season as the program’s head coach, leading them to a 12-1 record.
The hiring is expected to become official after it is approved Monday by the university’s Board of Curators.
The 36-year-old Drinkwitz attended Arkansas Tech and when he began his coaching career in high school in Arkansas he had an association with current Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn. He coached with Malzahn at Arkansas Stare and Auburn and also coached offense at Boise State. Before being hired by Appalachian State, he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2016-2018 at North Carolina State.
