Gallegos Leaves Game With Groin Injury

After what was looking like a great day for the St. Louis Cardinals with two wins in a doubleheader the Red Birds would lose one of their star relievers, and then go on to lose the game. Giovanny Gallegos came in to pitch in the seventh and last inning of the day. He would go on to walk a man and then let up two singles one leading to a run off a throwing error by Harrison Bader. After the play, Gallegos would leave the game and it would later be announced by manager Mike Shildt as a groin injury. The Cardinals will know more after they get imaging done.

In the meantime the Cardinals could potentially lose one of their top performing relievers as the Division and Wild Card race gets tighter. Based off win percentage the Cardinals sit about a game out of the Wild Card. Being only a game above .500 on the month the Cardinals will need to find someone else to step up big in the bullpen with the offense starting to click more as the season goes on. We will have more updates on Gallegos condition as more is known.
