Each week, KFNS will nominate five area players to be voted on for our weekly High School Athlete of the Week award presented by Country Financial.
The winner will receive a plaque and short video tribute produced by Hanna Yates and the KFNS digital team, which will appear on 590thefan.com Friday afternoon.
This week’s nominees are:
Justin Mathews-Williams – Francis Howell North Basketball – Francis Howell North boys basketball Justin Mathews-Williams. Ranked seventh in scoring leaders in boys basketball in the St. Louis area with 252 points on the season, averaging 25.2 points per game. Last week scored 48 points combined in two games against Troy Buchanan and Parkway West High Schools.
Damien Loyd – Kirkwood Basketball – Loyd is currently ranked ninth in scoring leaders in boys basketball in the St. Louis area with 304 points on the season, averaging 23.4 points per game. Last week Loyd put up 93 points in three games against Soldan, Eureka and McCluer North High Schools.
April Turner – Hancock Basketball – Turner is currently ranked ninth in scoring leaders in the St. Louis area in girls basketball. Last week Turner scored 27 points in two games against Hillsboro and Cleveland High Schools.
Graham Sudduth – O’Fallon Hockey – Sudduth is currently ranked second in goal leaders in the St. Louis area with 46 goals on the season. Last week Sudduth had five goals in two combined games.
Kate Martin – Edwardsville Basketball – Martin is currently ranked 12th in scoring leaders in the St. Louis area in girls basketball with 260 points on the season, averaging 18.6 points per game. Last week Martin had 13 points against Alton High School.
