In a 2020 Cardinals season that is going down to the last game of the season, the Redbirds were dealt a bit of uncertainty for the 2021 season. Starting pitcher Dakota Hudson will undergo Tommy John surgery and more than likely will miss the entire season. Although the recovery can vary a bit as Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said, the Cardinals more than likely will be without the young righty.
Hudson has seemed like himself all year, with a 3-2 record and 2.77 ERA in 39 innings pitched. The Cardinals play their last game Sunday to possibly determine if they make it into the expanded playoffs. Even without injuries, this Cardinals team needs improvements, and now if someone is missing in the rotation, several moves might need to be made.
