BattleHawks left tackle came off the bench in Sunday’s loss to Houston when Jake Campos went down with an injury. The BattleHawks didn’t miss a beat and the offense dominated the Roughnecks in the second half.
McDonald, from Indiana University, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2012 and subsequently spent training camps with Carolina, Seattle, Indianapolis, Cleveland and Houston. He started all eight games last year at right tackle for the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football and was a teammate there with current BattleHawks starting center Brian Folkerts. With Campos placed on reserve/injured, McDonald will get the start in the home opener Sunday against the New York Guardians.
